MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Railway Traction Co.
MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Railway Traction Co.
Founded on 1 January 2008, MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Railway Traction Private Company Limited by Shares provides passenger and cargo transport traction and shunting services for the rail passenger transport companies (including MÁV-START Co.), the rail cargo companies (including MÁV Cargo Co. and CER Co.), the infrastructure management companies (e.g. MÁV Co. Rail Track Division) and Záhony-Port Co.
The independent railway traction company, which was founded by MÁV Co. and MÁV-START Co. has taken over all the employees of the parent company who had worked in jobs associated with traction activities, so it now employs all the engine-drivers as well as the employees involved in the organisation, servicing and control of traction operations that had previously worked for MÁV Co.
MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. has a pool of some 900 vehicles that are capable of performing a diverse range of traction and shunting tasks and offers a wide range of flexible and efficient services that meet all the railway traction requirements of its partners. The tariffs of MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. are set for all clients in accordance with the required service levels, on a market basis.
Over the period since its foundation, MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. has completed all its planned tasks successfully and established the most important conditions for stable long-term operation. Today, it has all the human and technical resources it needs in order to provide competitive, flexible and customer-centred railway traction services.
History of the Company
As of 1 January 2008, MÁV Co. organised its traction operations into a separate company, MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Railway Traction Private Company Limited by Shares. The new company took over the employees of the parent company who had worked in the traction sector, a total of some 5,100 people, from 1 January 2008. MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. has faced a number of challenges and achieved a number of results since its foundation. The court of registration completed the company’s preliminary registration on 24 October 2007. The firm was established as an independent company on 1 January 2008.
At the members’ meeting held at the end of December 2007 a decision was made to increase the company’s equity from HUF 20 million to HUF 29.8 billion as of 1 January 2008. The subscribed capital of MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. was increased once more in May 2008.
MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. and the leaders of the trade unions concerned signed the Collective Bargaining Agreement in the middle of April 2008. In may, the company concluded a five-year framework agreement about the provision of traction services with CER Central-European Railway Transport, Trading and Service Co. Under that agreement, MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. shall be a strategic traction partner of CER for the next five years.
In May 2008, MÁV-TRAKCIÓ received its permit for cargo transportation and it also obtained a railway safety certificate in July. The traction company is also undergoing a transition to its own quality management system.
