Services of MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Railway Traction Co.
MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Railway Traction Private Company Limited by Shares is a railway business association licensed by the Hungarian Railway Agency.
On open access tracks as well as on tracks in private use, under its Terms and Conditions, MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. provides traction and other related (supplementary) services to business partners in a contractual relationship with the Company, with a view to running trains for passenger transport, freight transport or other – e.g. track construction – purposes.
MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. – as a business association in the railway sector – provides traction (and traction-related) services to its clients, using (traction) equipment in its ownership or possession.
MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. is licensed to provide its services set forth in its Terms and Conditions on the whole territory of the Republic of Hungary on all open access rail track networks and on rail tracks in private use, under relevant agreements between the Operator and the owner of the rail track in private use. (Traction services provided on track networks outside the territory of the Republic of Hungary are governed by provisions of the relevant international agreements.)
Types of Services Provided by MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. and their Definitions
Routing of Trains
This is a complex forwarding service which is carried out in accordance with a route licence issued for MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co., on a route section ordered by the client, also involving the supply of the locomotive, the driver and the tractive energy.
Routing of Trains with Equipment Owned or Possessed by MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co.
If, under the order, trains are routed by means of equipment owned or possessed by MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co., the service also includes the supply of the locomotive, the driver and the tractive energy.
Routing of Trains with (Alien) Equipment Owned or Possessed by Client
If, under the order, trains are routed by MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. by means of (alien) equipment owned or possessed by Client, the service also includes the supply of the driver and the tractive energy.
Shunting Service
This service involves splitting trains into wagons, as well as compiling and transferring trains from wagons. It takes place at stations (in marshalling yards, on goods processing sites, on goods organising technological and technical equipment and other non-public service sites). The shunting service includes, as agreed in the order, the supply of locomotive, driver as well as tractive energy.
Shunting Service with Equipment Owned or Possessed by MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co.
If, under the order, the shunting service is provided by way of equipment owned or possessed by MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co., the service also includes the supply of the locomotive, the driver and the tractive energy.
Shunting Service with (Alien) Equipment Owned or Possessed by Client
If, under the order, the shunting service is provided by MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. by way of (alien) equipment owned or possessed by Client, the service also includes the supply of the driver and the tractive energy.
Other Traction Services
- Test run or traction for measurement purposes;
- Traction service for track construction or maintenance purposes, service ordered for a train heading from the depot to the construction site, transporting construction material (so-called material train)
- Movement of rail vehicle or work machines on sections under track possession.
Traction-related Auxiliary Services
- Supply of compressed air for operation of technical equipment of train sets, other than brakes (e.g. crushed gravel unloading, cooling, retention of heat etc.);
- Supply of electric energy (energy provision for technological purpose).
